How kookey works

A tour of the experience described in the project brief.

Notice: Planned Product Information

This documentation describes functionality and policies planned for the hosted Kookey social platform, targeting release in Q1 2027. The current public website is a static presentation and waitlist.

1.Capture and prepare a moment

The concept begins with a shared room or screenshot selected on a supported device. A caption could add context to a room; profile notes would be separate updates. The actual capture method, supported clients, file formats, upload limits, and whether recording happens inside kookey are not confirmed. No capture or upload control is available on this website.

2.Choose an audience and share

A future host would need to know whether a post is public, limited to followers, or shared with a narrower group before publishing. The product design includes profiles and a feed concept, but the actual audience settings, discoverability, comment controls, and resharing behavior must be documented from the released service.

A visibility setting cannot prevent a recipient from copying or recording material they can view. The service’s terms, privacy notice, and posting controls will explain that limit before sharing is available.

3.Discover and revisit

The concept includes an Explore surface, temporary stories, and short-form highlights. These formats could help someone find a host outside their existing circle or return to a moment later, but ranking signals, recommendations, notification controls, and retention behavior are not yet verified.

Before launch, kookey will explain how ordering works, what users can tune or hide, and what “temporary” means for backups, screenshots, reports, and deletion.

4.What is available today?

Only the public project presentation is available today. It does not offer capture, upload, profiles, a feed, discovery, stories, or messaging. The hosted service is in development with a Q1 2027 target.

5.A complete example flow

If the planned product ships as planned, a host might select a room from a supported device, review the video and any recorded voices, add context and captions, choose who can see it, and confirm before posting. A viewer could then react or comment. The host will have a clear way to change visibility, remove the post, download available data, or close an account. This is an example of the planned experience, not a working flow. The steps and controls have not been confirmed yet.
