Copyright & content policy

Copyright rules for the planned hosted service. We’ll share notice and counter-notice instructions before uploads open.

1.Current service status

This public website has no user uploads or in-app copyright report control. A monitored copyright contact, notice format, response steps, and any appeal or counter-notice route are not available yet. We’ll publish them before the hosted service accepts content. The site lists contact@kookey.me for project inquiries, but monitoring is not confirmed; it is not presented as a working legal-notice channel.

2.Share what you are allowed to share

Rooms may include third-party media, music, voice chat, usernames, and other people’s work. Before sharing a room, consider who owns each part and whether the permission covers storing and showing it to the audience you choose. Access to content on one service may not answer every question about a separate social service. Platform availability does not itself grant rights to third-party material.

3.Prepare a rights notice

The copyright-reporting route and required information have not been confirmed yet. We’ll share them before uploads are available. A complete notice will likely need enough information to identify the protected work, the exact kookey location, the rights holder or authorized representative, a safe contact method, and a good-faith explanation of the claimed infringement. Send only the material needed to identify the work and claim. Do not attach passwords, unrelated personal data, or a copy of sensitive material unless a verified process specifically requires it.

4.Review and possible outcomes

The operator will publish how notices are acknowledged, assessed, and communicated after the service and applicable legal process are confirmed. Possible outcomes can include no action, a request for clarification, a restriction, or removal, depending on the claim and applicable law. No specific removal deadline or acceptance of every notice is promised; each report will be assessed under the applicable process.

5.Counter-notices and mistaken claims

A host whose content is restricted will need a route to understand the reason and challenge a mistaken claim, including where the host has permission or believes a legal exception applies. Eligibility, required statements, deadlines, restoration criteria, and any notice to the claimant are not established yet. Those details will be published before a takedown process is offered. Users may have rights and remedies outside the platform process under applicable law.

6.Repeat infringement and false reports

Before uploads open, we’ll explain how repeated infringement may affect an account and how mistaken or disputed notices are handled. Knowingly false claims can harm hosts and may have legal consequences; make reports honestly and with a reasonable basis. The service’s warning, suspension, termination, and appeal rules have not been confirmed yet. We’ll share them before user accounts open.

A service that stores and gives the public access to large amounts of copyrighted material uploaded by users may fall within the EU Copyright in the Digital Single Market Directive’s definition of an online content-sharing service provider. Whether kookey falls within that definition depends on its actual purpose, scale, organization, promotion, and commercial character; a software license, if published, would not by itself answer that question. If Article 17 applies, the provider may need authorization from rights holders and must apply the Directive’s proportional obligations and safeguards for users, including mechanisms for complaints and legitimate uses such as quotation, criticism, review, caricature, parody, and pastiche.

8.Video, music, and voice chat

A room can combine rights in a video, soundtrack, separately licensed recording, musical composition, participant voice, usernames, and overlays. Permission to access media does not automatically grant every license needed for a service to store and distribute a room. Users should review the relevant rights and music terms and consider consent and privacy for recorded people. No music-catalog or video-library agreement is confirmed here.

9.Safeguards and policy publication

Before user uploads are enabled, the operator will publish a versioned policy with the monitored contact, required notice fields, uploader notice, response and appeal steps, and any legally required safeguards. The applicable countries and provider obligations depend on the released service and operator; a legal citation alone does not establish that a procedure exists. The policy will show an effective date and a change history once these are confirmed.
