Stories & short rooms
Different formats for moments that deserve a quick share or a lasting place.
Notice: Planned Product Information
This documentation describes functionality and policies planned for the hosted Kookey social platform, targeting release in Q1 2027. The current public website is a static presentation and waitlist.
1.Temporary stories
A 24-hour story window is only an idea; it is not a confirmed feature or retention period. Story timing, archives, reports, legal holds, caches, and backups are still being planned. We’ll explain how each affects visibility and removal before stories are available.
The current site has no story uploads. Until the implementation and retention schedule are confirmed, “temporary” does not mean that every copy disappears after a fixed number of hours.
2.Short-form highlights
The concept includes a more lasting highlight format for a fast, replayable moment. The released product’s duration limits, editing tools, captions, audience, resharing, and deletion behavior have not been announced.
Profile visibility and removal controls for highlights are not available yet. We’ll explain how they work if they are included in the hosted service.
3.Compare formats
The table shows the current concept only; the final product has not confirmed any of these behaviors. Before launch, kookey will replace it with tested rules for display, archives, audience, export, reporting, and removal.
| Format | Intended role | Behavior still to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Story | A short-lived share around a moment. | Expiry timer, archive, audience, screenshots, reports, backups, and deletion. |
| Clip or highlight | A shared moment that may remain on a host profile. | Length limits, captions, profile visibility, resharing, download, and removal. |
| Reel or short-form video | The product brief has not established a separate behavior for this label. | Whether this is a distinct format, how it is discovered, and what retention applies. |
4.Product status
No story, reel, or highlight can be created on this public website. Stories, reels, and highlights are still planned. A 24-hour story period is not a confirmed feature or retention promise.
