Storage philosophy
A simple idea: the place that stores your room should be a choice you can understand.
Notice: Planned Product Information
This documentation describes functionality and policies planned for the hosted Kookey social platform, targeting release in Q1 2027. The current public website is a static presentation and waitlist.
1.Storage is part of ownership
The project direction values understandable hosting choices, but no storage provider or location has been published for a future social service. The hosted service’s storage location and providers have not been confirmed yet. We’ll share those details when the hosting setup is settled; independently run instances may use different infrastructure.
This static presentation site contains no user media or social account storage. Its production host and server-side log configuration still need confirmation in the Privacy Notice.
2.Durability and deletion
Good storage means more than keeping files. It also means access controls, backup and restore plans, and a clear retention schedule. No backup cycle, recovery objective, or deletion interval is confirmed for the planned app.
When a post is removed, readers need to know whether it disappears from the active service, caches, backups, moderation records, and copies already saved by recipients. Backup, recovery, and deletion details are not confirmed yet. We’ll share them once the service is tested.
3.Export and migration
No data export or move-between-hosts feature is available on this site, and a supported self-hosted release has not been published. Before promising portability, kookey will identify the data format, media export scope, account-identity limits, and the steps needed to transfer content between operators.
4.What storage does not promise
A saved post is not automatically an archive, a backup guarantee, or a permanent copy. Availability can depend on the operator, provider, network, and maintenance; recoverability depends on backups that have actually been tested. Removing a visible post may not remove a copy someone else saved or immediately clear every backup. No hosted storage or recovery guarantee has been published, so readers should not rely on this concept page as an archival service.
