Self-hosting & instance terms

How responsibilities differ when someone deploys their own kookey instance.

1.Software and deployment

kookey has not published a software license or supported self-hosted release yet. We’ll publish the license and supported installation method before offering reuse or self-hosting. This website does not grant additional rights or support guarantees.

2.The operator runs the service

A person or organization deploying an instance controls its domain, data, moderation, security, retention, and user-facing terms. They must provide their own privacy notice, contact details, acceptable use rules, and complaint process appropriate to their users and jurisdiction.

3.Federation and interoperability

Separate instances may have different accounts, moderation rules, and responsible operators. kookey has not confirmed whether instances will connect to other services. If that changes, this page will explain what information is shared and what choices users have.
