Open by design

Why inspectable software and independent hosting matter to kookey.

Notice: Planned Product Information

This documentation describes functionality and policies planned for the hosted Kookey social platform, targeting release in Q1 2027. The current public website is a static presentation and waitlist.

1.See how it is made

kookey has not published a software license or canonical source release, so reuse rights for its original code and content are not established. We’ll publish the software license and third-party notices when the project’s reuse terms are confirmed.

The source repository and release link have not been published yet. We’ll share them when confirmed. This website does not include the hosted service or its source.

2.A choice of homes

Self-hosting can give an operator control over a domain, storage, and community rules. That control also brings responsibility for security, backups, moderation, legal notices, and user support.

There is no supported self-hosted release or deployment guide. Configuration, database, storage, upgrades, and backups have not been confirmed for a supported self-hosted release. We’ll share setup details if and when that release is available.

3.What openness does and does not mean

A software license can grant rights to code; it does not by itself guarantee that a hosted service is available, that user data is portable, or that an operator follows a particular privacy or security practice. Each hosted instance needs its own provider identity, policies, and support route.

kookey has not published its software license or production hosting model yet. We’ll share them when confirmed.

4.Source, releases, and contributions

kookey has not published the canonical source link, release tags, public issue tracker, or source for the hosted social service from this website. This website presents the project; it does not include the hosted service or a deployable social app. We’ll share verified code, license, release, and contribution links once the project has identified its maintained sources. The contributor guide currently covers contributions to the public website.

5.Current release status

The hosted social service is not available, and there is no licensed application release, source link, or installation guide to inspect or use. This page will include those details if a release becomes available.
