Our values

The principles that shape the product and the community it hopes to serve.

Notice: Planned Product Information

This documentation describes functionality and policies planned for the hosted Kookey social platform, targeting release in Q1 2027. The current public website is a static presentation and waitlist.

1.Ownership

Your rooms and the choices around them matter. The product direction is to make control and hosting options visible before a person shares. The hosted service’s terms will explain what permissions it needs. Its controls for audience, export, and deletion have not been confirmed yet; we’ll share how they work before the service opens.

Those permissions and controls have not been confirmed yet. We’ll provide details before the hosted service opens. The current site does not accept rooms or accounts.

2.Respect

Hosts, viewers, friends, and people caught in the background all deserve care. Privacy, attribution, accessibility, and fair moderation should guide product decisions. For example, a room that includes voice chat can raise consent and privacy questions even when the media itself is shareable.

Details about audience controls, reporting, accessibility, and moderation will be shared as those parts of the service are confirmed. These are requirements for the product to resolve, not claims that current controls exist.

3.Open collaboration

A healthy project explains how people can contribute and gives credit to work it builds on. kookey has not published a license, contributor policy, or third-party notices for its original work. We’ll share the reuse terms before accepting contributions or inviting people to reuse the software.

Until those are available, contributors and readers should not assume a particular license applies to kookey’s original code, text, or brand assets.

4.Product status

Audience and visibility controls are not available on this website, and the hosted service has not confirmed how they will work. We’ll describe who can see a room and what sharing choices are available before uploads open.

5.Respect in practice

Respect also means not making someone guess what a product will do with their voice, image, or personal details. A future upload flow should give a host time to review the room, add captions where supported, understand who can view it, and report a harmful use. We’ll state the limits of any control that the product cannot offer. These are proposed design expectations, not a report of current functionality.
